Nonfiction Book Club

November 19, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

**Please note that this month we will meet on the 3rd Saturday (rather than the 4th — Happy Thanksgiving!)

This month, we will discuss As Long as Grass Grows: the Indigenous fight for environmental justice, from colonization to Standing Rock by Dina Gilio-Whitaker.

According to Goodreads.com:

Indigenous researcher and activist Dina Gilio-Whitaker explores the fraught history of treaty violations, struggles for food and water security, and protection of sacred sites, while highlighting the important leadership of Indigenous women in this centuries-long struggle. As Long As Grass Grows gives readers an accessible history of Indigenous resistance to government and corporate incursions on their lands and offers new approaches to environmental justice activism and policy.

Copies of this book are available at the library.

Our discussion will be held in a hybrid format.  The host will be in person at the BFL, while some members will join over zoom.  You are welcome to join either way.  For zoom, please register here to receive the meeting details:
