This week’s film is an endearing Swedish dramedy. Made in 2015, A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove) was directed by Hannes Holm and won the best comedy prize at the prestigious European Film Awards. Although it tells a familiar story that we have already seen in different guises and contexts, A Man Called Ove tweaks expectations and avoids generic pitfalls by cleverly balancing its tricky black humor and tragicomic tone.
