Sheila is a Freelance Artist who has studied for many years at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts under noted urban landscape artist Valerie Larko. She has previously exhibited at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey and is a member of the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. She is also a member of the Morristown (New Jersey) Art Association and The Art Association of Northern New York.
Currently a resident of Morristown, N. J., Sheila and her husband, Phil, spent their early married life in the greater Boston area, where two of their children, Christine and Tim were born and still reside with their families. A third child, Sarah, lives in New Jersey with her family. Holiday get togethers are often spent in Natick or Westwood.
An avid gardener and member of The Home Garden Club of Morristown, as well as The Garden Club of New Jersey, Sheila has taken great inspiration from the vivid colors of the garden and the quickly changing effect of sunlight and shadow on trees and plants. Other sources of great inspiration for Sheila are Sheila and Phil’s nine grandchildren and their summer cottage on Lake Ontario in Northern New York.
Although she began painting in her younger years with watercolor under artist Amy Wells Fell, Sheila’s favorite medium now is oil on canvas. Most of her work has been centered around her first love, the garden, and includes landscape, flowers and plants of all kinds. Lately she has been experimenting more with portraiture and architectural landscapes and hopes to continue exploring her craft in the years ahead.
