SUMMARY:Virtual - In Conversation with Author Heather B. Moore: "Her America"
DESCRIPTION:**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.**   \nFrom award-winning\, starred-review author Heather B. Moore comes a powerful portrait of eight American women whose courage and conviction drove them to smash stereotypes and build a nation –  we’ll be discussing Her America\, released just a few weeks ago.   \nRegister directly on Zoom HERE. \nRECORDING NOTE: This program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program.  \nYou can buy signed books by Heather from Aesop’s Fable\, just make a note that you want the books signed when you check out. \n\nAbout the Book\nHer America recognizes eight remarkable women who refused to wait for permission to prove a woman’s worth in society. They fought for American independence\, the abolition of slavery\, women’s suffrage\, and civil rights with their pens and their voices\, empowered by their unwavering convictions and courage\, to challenge the status quo. Through vivid fictional vignettes and meticulously researched nonfiction accounts\, Her America immerses readers in these women’s crucial role in transforming this nation. \nMercy Otis Warren ignited a revolution with her politically impassioned plays and became the first published female historian of America. \nSojourner Truth electrified audiences with her “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech and turned her freedom into a crusade for abolition and equality. \nElizabeth Cady Stanton authored the Declaration of Sentiments\, launching the women’s suffrage movement. \nSusan B. Anthony built an unstoppable campaign for women’s voting rights that reshaped American democracy. \nHarriet Tubman rescued enslaved families through the Underground Railroad and later commanded Union troops to freedom. \nEleanor Roosevelt redefined the role of First Lady and shaped the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. \nJovita Idár founded schools\, organized resistance\, and wielded her pen to defend Mexican American civil rights. \nMarguerite Higgins broke barriers as a Pulitzer Prize-winning frontline war correspondent. \nHer America is an essential addition to any collection on women’s history\, social justice\, and the power of courage in action. It is perfect for classrooms\, book clubs\, and libraries\, as it invites discussion\, inspires leadership\, and connects past to present with clarity and mastery. \nAbout the Author\nHeather B. Moore is a USA Today bestseller and award-winning author of more than 90 publications. Heather writes primarily historical and #herstory fiction about the humanity and heroism of the everyday person. Publishing in a breadth of genres\, Heather dives into the hearts and souls of her characters\, meshing her love of research with her love of storytelling. \nHer historicals and thrillers are written under pen name H.B. Moore. She writes women’s fiction\, romance and inspirational non-fiction under Heather B. Moore\, and . . . speculative fiction under Jane Redd. This can all be confusing\, so her kids just call her Mom. Heather attended Cairo American College in Egypt and the Anglican School of Jerusalem in Israel. Despite failing her high school AP English exam\, Heather persevered and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in something other than English. \n\nThis program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library and we’re thrilled to be collaborating with a multitude of MA Libraries to bring this program to our communities. We are happy to be partnering with the Ashland Senior Center for this event.

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis month\, we will discuss The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander\, New Foundland by Jim DeFede.  \nFrom Goodreads.com: \nWhen 38 jetliners bound for the United States were forced to land at Gander International Airport in Canada by the closing of U.S. airspace on September 11\, the population of this small town on Newfoundland Island swelled from 10\,300 to nearly 17\,000. The citizens of Gander met the stranded passengers with an overwhelming display of friendship and goodwill. \nOver the course of four days\, many of the passengers developed friendships with Gander residents that they expect to last a lifetime. This book recounts the inspiring story of the residents of Gander\, Canada\, whose acts of kindness have touched the lives of thousands of people and been an example of humanity and goodwill. \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - September 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

SUMMARY:Virtual - Romance Author Julie Hall Discusses "The Secrets of Everlight"
DESCRIPTION:  \n**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.**   \nYou all know we love romantasy and Julie’s newest book looks amazing so we just had to invite her to our virtual stage to discuss The Secrets of Everlight! A thief turned spy must unravel an assassination plot against the fae prince by disguising herself as a princess competing for his heart . Who doesn’t want to more about that?!!? We hope you can join us for this fun discussion.  \n  \nRegister directly on Zoom HERE. \nRECORDING NOTE: This program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program.  \n\nAbout the Book: \nFor nineteen years\, Rowan has fought to survive: first on the streets scavenging for scraps\, then bound by a decade-long contract to a corrupt master. She longs for freedom but spends her days stealing from the highborn to pay off her servitude. \nWhen a mysterious fae buys her contract\, Rowan seizes her chance to escape. But her freedom comes at a price: she must uncover the assassin targeting Prince Dryden of the Ember Kingdom. To do so\, she will pose as a princess among the royals competing for his hand in marriage. \nThrust into a world of silks and finery\, Rowan has just weeks to master her role while hunting a killer hidden in plain sight. Eavesdropping and sneaking through gilded halls may come naturally\, but the bonds she forms with the other princesses—and Dryden’s growing interest in her—are complications that threaten to unravel everything. \nAs whispers of danger beyond the kingdom rise\, Rowan realizes the stakes are far greater than she imagined. And every stolen glance with the prince pulls her closer to a desire that could cost her not only her future but the kingdom itself.  \n\nAbout Julie: \nJulie Hall is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author who traded her career in movie marketing for worlds filled with magic\, danger\, and slow-burn romance. She writes the kind of fast-paced\, heart-wrenching fantasy stories that leave readers with epic book hangovers and a desperate need for more. \nHer love of all things fantasy and supernatural started early\, thanks to Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathons and a dog-eared collection of L.J. Smith paperbacks. She’s been chasing that same blend of heart\, humor\, and high stakes ever since. \nHer stories have captured readers around the world and are known for fierce heroines\, morally gray love interests\, and twists that make you gasp out loud. She lives in Colorado with her husband\, daughter\, and two furry chaos-makers\, forever chasing stories where love burns bright in the darkest moments.  \n  \nPlease register for this event on Zoom and you’ll receive the link in the confirmation and reminder emails. \nThis program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library and we’re thrilled to be collaborating with a multitude of MA Libraries to bring this program to our communities.

SUMMARY:Virtual - Author and Historian Helen Fry Discusses "The White Lady"
DESCRIPTION:**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.**   \nWe learned so much from Helen the last time she spoke with us\, we had to have her back! This time\, she’ll be discussing her book\, The White Lady: The Story of Two Key British Secret Service Networks Behind German Lines – A major new history of the two most important British secret service networks in the First and Second World Wars. This is a compelling account of the agents who risked their lives and found ingenious ways to smuggle intelligence out of occupied Belgium.  \nThis program is at 2pm ET (Boston Time). We will NOT be recording this session.  \nRegister directly on Zoom HERE. \nBuy signed (by bookplate) books by Helen from Aesop’s Fable. Just note in the comments that you’d like the books signed at checkout! \nBuy Signed Books by Helen \n\nAbout The White Lady: \nIntelligence gathering was essential to both sides in the First and Second World Wars. At the heart of MI6’s efforts were two key networks in Belgium. Agents in The White Lady acted as couriers\, radio operators and spies to facilitate the end of German control. And\, when war broke out again two decades later\, the leaders of the network regrouped and established a successor: The Clarence Service. \nHelen Fry charts the history of these pivotal intelligence networks. Drawing on recently declassified information\, Fry examines who the agents were\, how they were recruited\, and how the intelligence they gathered directly impacted the outcome of both wars. Operators in the field sent over eight hundred radio messages to London and delivered more than a thousand reports\, including groundbreaking information on Hitler’s secret weapon the V-1.  \n\nAbout Helen: \nDiscover the versatile expertise of Dr. Helen Fry\, a distinguished WWII historian\, and author with a profound focus on the contributions of 10\,000 Germans and Austrians who fought for Britain during WWII. Her specialisation extends to the intriguing realm of the ‘Secret Listeners’ and the intricate world of 20th-century spies and espionage. Helen’s influence goes beyond the pages of her books. She is a sought-after consultant for leading TV and documentary productions\, offering historical insight for WWII scenes filmed by major channels like the BBC\, ITV\, and Channel 4. Her commitment to historical education encompasses curriculum development for schools and educational programs related to WWI\, WWII\, and the Cold War. An ardent supporter of the National Centre for Military Intelligence (NCMI)\, she also serves as a trustee for the Medmenham Collection and holds honorary membership in The Association of Jewish Refugees. Her latest book\, ‘Women in Intelligence\,’ illuminating the crucial roles of women in both WWI and WWII\, was released in America in October 2023. \n  \nPlease register for this event and you’ll receive the link in the confirmation and reminder emails – make sure to check your spam folder for them\, the email will be coming from Zoom. \nThis program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library and we’re thrilled to be collaborating with a multitude of MA Libraries to bring this program to our communities.

We hosted Leslye years ago and we had such a great conversation so we expect we’ll have another great time. This time\, Leslye will be discussing her new book\, The Inevitable Undoing of Zahara Douglass which she tells us is not strictly a romance but with a strong romantic subplot – you know what? We’ll take it!  \n  \nSave your sister\, doom the world. For five years\, Zahara Douglass has been haunted by her sister’s impossible disappearance. Now\, in December 1999\, with the world on the brink of chaos\, Zahara sets out to find her sister no matter the cost in this twisty and compelling modern fantasy. Sounds awesome\, right? We hope you can join us for this fun discussion! \nRegister directly on Zoom HERE. \nRECORDING NOTE: This program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program.  \n\nAbout the Book: \nIn April 1995\, Zahara watched her twin sister\, Annica\, get hustled into a stranger’s car and disappear—only to return to a world where no one remembers Annica ever existed. Not her mother. Not the police. No one. \nFive years later\, as the world braces for the looming Y2K crisis\, Zahara finds evidence proving her sister is real. Determined to uncover the truth\, she hires a private investigator and begins digging into her family’s shadowed past. When the investigation leads to two charismatic men who once served with her father in Vietnam\, Zahara realizes she and her sister may be pawns in a dangerous power struggle with unthinkable consequences. \nTo find Annica\, Zahara must face the truth about her family\, her memories\, and the power lurking within her. But the twins’ reunion comes at a price—one that could unravel reality and bring about the end of the world.  \n\nAbout Leslye: \nLeslye Penelope\, who also writes as L. Penelope\, has been writing since she could hold a pen and loves getting lost in the worlds in her head. She is an award-winning author of fantasy and paranormal romance. SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis month\, we will discuss Custodians of Wonder: Ancient customs\, profound traditions\, and the last people keeping them alive by Eliot Stein.  \n \nFrom the publisher’s website: \nClimbing through Peru’s southern highlands\, he encounters the last Inca bridge master who rebuilds a grass-woven bridge every year from the fabled Inca Road System. He befriends a British beekeeper who maintains a touching custom of “telling the bees” important news of the day. And he crunches through a German forest to find the official mailman of the only tree in the world with its own address – to which countless people from across the world have written in hopes of finding love. These are just some of the last custodians preserving age-old rites on the brink of disappearance against all odds. Let Eliot Stein introduce you to all of them. \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - October 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ
