SUMMARY:Lynda Goldberg: Monotypes Inspired by Nature
DESCRIPTION:Lynda Goldberg’s art exhibit Monotypes Inspired by Nature will be on display from July 30th\, 2026 – September 8th\, 2026 \nLynda Goldberg’s Artist Statement: \n\nMy work is informed by nature.  To capture a moment\, scene or feeling and to express it through my artwork.  \nMy monotypes (one-of-a-kind works on paper) are inspired by nature. I start with an idea or feeling which I express in textures and colors using natural and manmade found objects. I am a tactile person\, always touching things and feeling their texture. Because I am a printmaker I see an item’s potential by how it might appear after color and pressure have been applied. One can also paint directly on the plate using printing inks with brushes\, palette knives\, and other tools/implements. I employ monotype\, collagraph\, chine colle\, stencil\, stamping\, and other techniques to create my work.   \nIn my pieces I use leaves\, grasses\, ferns\, seaweed\, eggshells\, small flat metal objects\, meshes\, string\, and other items. These objects are inked and placed on an inked plexi-glass plate\, then a damp piece of paper is placed on top and it is run through an etching press. \nAfter pulling the original print one can continue to use the ”ghosted” plate as is\, or add/subtract/rearrange items and pull another print\, or one can remove the objects and use that “ghosted” image. Also as the plate is being prepared\, one can use what is on the brayer and roll that on a plate\, or use the reverse side of an object that was already printed. It is the unlimited possibilities and uncertainty of what exactly will appear (in addition to the image being the reverse of what one worked on) that makes the monotype process so exciting. Each print is unique and the result of an adventure. My goal is to transmit my enthusiasm for the printmaking process and its creativeness to others. \n\n \n\n\n \n \n \n\n \n Goldberg_Lynda_Autumn Day at Crane's BeachGoldberg_Lynda_EnchantmentGoldberg_Lynda_Seed PodsGoldberg_Lynda_Mixed Emotions \n\n \n \n \n \n\n  \nArt has always been an important part of Lynda’s life. It allows her to share her love and wonder of nature and life with others.  \nShe has exhibited in New England in both solo and group shows\, and have received numerous awards.  Her work is in many corporate\, private\, and non-profit collections in the U.S. and abroad.   \nShe is a member of the: Monotype Guild of New England (MGNE);  Nature Printing Society (NPS); New England Experimental Art Group (NEEAG); Newton Art Association (NAA)\, North Shore Art Association (NSAA)\, and Rockport Art Association & Museum (RAA&M). She splits her time between Newton and Rockport\, MA. \nFor more information about her work – please visit her website www.lyndagoldberg.com\, or email her at lynda@lyndagoldberg.com. She also teaches “Monotype Printing With a Press” at the New Art Center in Newtonville\, MA and Eliot School in Jamaica Plain\, MA. \nLynda’s art will be on display in an accessible location at TCAN in November & December.

SUMMARY:David Parish: Thoughtful Animals
DESCRIPTION:David Parish’s photography exhibit Thoughtful Animals will be on display in an accessible space at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick from June 29th – Sept 4th.  Then\, his exhibit comes to the BFL from Sept 9th – October 21st.  \n  \nDavid began his travels as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Turkey and\, when possible\, has continued to travel with his wife\, Shirley.  He enjoys observing and photographing animals in their natural settings\, and his wish is that the photos on display will appeal to children\, and perhaps even some adults. \n\n \n \n \n\n \n liongorillalemurchimp \n\n \n \n \n \n  \nDavid Parish is a long-term resident of Natick.  He has been involved with several organizations within the town\, most recently as Chair of the Bacon Free Library’s Board of Trustees.    \n

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis month\, we will discuss The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander\, New Foundland by Jim DeFede.  \nFrom Goodreads.com: \nWhen 38 jetliners bound for the United States were forced to land at Gander International Airport in Canada by the closing of U.S. airspace on September 11\, the population of this small town on Newfoundland Island swelled from 10\,300 to nearly 17\,000. The citizens of Gander met the stranded passengers with an overwhelming display of friendship and goodwill. \nOver the course of four days\, many of the passengers developed friendships with Gander residents that they expect to last a lifetime. This book recounts the inspiring story of the residents of Gander\, Canada\, whose acts of kindness have touched the lives of thousands of people and been an example of humanity and goodwill. \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - September 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ
