SUMMARY:Walnut Hill School for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:Walnut Hill School for the Arts is an independent boarding and day high school offering an immersive and intensive educational experience designed for student artists in Grades 9–12\, with a postgraduate gap year also available. \nIn the Visual Art Department\, students acquire foundational skills and hone their creative impulses through personal practice\, faculty guidance\, and exposure to the work of peers. I like ceramic\, sculpture\, photography\, and printmaking. \nAudrey Kriz: Her work mirrors life through a distorted lens. \nAva Thieme: I am 18 years old\, and I’m from Upton\, Massachusetts. I take a lot of inspiration from history and nature\, and I plan to go into art for college! \nCindy Chen: I currently study in grade 10 at Walnut Hill School. For me\, art is a wonderful channel to show my inner thoughts and feelings. Right now\, I’m embracing every moment of learning and exploring my creativity through practice. \nElla (Yufan) Zhou: Ella was born in Hangzhou\, China\, and currently lives in Los Angeles. Her artistic practice focuses on the human figure. Through her work\, Ella invites viewers into an intimate dialogue between strength\, vulnerability\, and transformation. She has explored a wide range of media\, continually pushing the boundaries of her expression. \nElle Stanley: I am a newly enrolled sophomore at Walnut Hill School. I am 15 and I am an illustration-based artist\, working in mediums of colored pencil\, paint\, and digital\, primarily. I plan to go to college for visual art or art marketing.  \nElliot Ellie Bible: I’m a new junior at Walnut Hill School. I’m 16 years old and I am especially interested in printmaking and sculpture. \nEmma Feng: I’m a freshman at Walnut Hill School. I am 14 and I love doing apparel and drawing.  \nIris Hamilton: I have been at Walnut Hill School for 3 years now. I’ve taken up a love of sculpture works and printmaking. I love oil painting\, especially scenes from my life. I hope to study art in the future. \nKatelina Viana: I am a senior Visual Artist Major\, most interested in comic and illustration work. My biggest inspirations are Akira Toriyama\, Hayao Miyazaki\, and many other comic artists and animators. My mother is from Argentina\, and my father is from Brazil. My art is largely inspired by my experiences\, and how everyone is different and unique.  \nTsz Mang Lemon Ye: My name is Lemon; I’m from China\, I’m 15 years old\, and I love creating animations\, writing poems\, and all kinds of little animals. I hope to keep telling stories through animation in the future. \nWinter Aiyue Qiu: I’m originally from Greenwich\, Connecticut. My favorite artistic medium is ceramics\, and most of my art is inspired by cultural and diasporic history. I plan to study philosophy\, history\, and visual art in college.   \n

DESCRIPTION:Cinephilia is an academic word literally meaning “love of cinema\,” but it also contains hints of nostalgia and passion for a film art that was undoubtedly the defining media experience of the twentieth century. \nAs such\, cinema has a variegated and fascinating history which extends well beyond the Hollywood we are all familiar with.  Meant as a tribute to the film art around the world\, from the days of silent cinema to the new waves and beyond\, our cinephile Mondays is a slow and tasteful appreciation of the First Century of Cinema.  The films will be selected on the basis of their relevance for the development of the film art.  On the last Monday of the month\, cinephiles of the world unite!  \nWatch a movie at home and then join Film history & Media studies Professor MV for a virtual discussion. \nFor Monday February 23\, we will be discussing: \nIn the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai\, Hong Kong 2000. \nCriterion DVD available in the MLN HERE\n\n \n\n\nIf you are interested in attending this Zoom discussion\, please contact Graziella at glesellier@minlib.net

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL: Burglary at the Louvre - How Can Writers Top This?
DESCRIPTION:**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.** \nThe world is fascinated by the recent jewel robbery at the Louvre\, and so are the Curators of Crime\, mystery authors Connie Berry\, Lane Stone\, Nina Wachsman\, and M.A. Monnin. In this program\, the Curators of Crime will examine the public’s fascination with the recent burglary of Napoleonic jewels at the Louvre and discuss how\, as authors\, they have used the same elements in their books. They cover the crime itself\, the police investigation and their procedures for nailing the thieves\, the psychology and motives that prompt such a bold theft\, and how the intrinsic and historical value of the jewels make them targets and add to the public’s fear of their loss. \n  \nRegister here for the Zoom link. \n  \nThis program is held in collaboration with the Tewksbury Public Library. \nRECORDING NOTE: This program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nThis month\, we will discuss Driving Mr. Albert: A trip across America with Einstein’s brain by Michael Paterniti.  \n From Penguin Random House: \nAlbert Einstein’s brain floats in a Tupperware bowl in a gray duffel bag in the trunk of a Buick Skylark barreling across America. Driving the car is journalist Michael Paterniti. Sitting next to him is an 84-year-old pathologist named Thomas Harvey\, who performed the autopsy on Einstein in 1955 — then simply removed the brain and took it home. And kept it for over forty years. \nOn a cold February day\, the two men and the brain leave New Jersey and light out on I-70 for sunny California\, where Einstein’s perplexed granddaughter\, Evelyn\, awaits. And riding along as the imaginary fourth passenger is Einstein himself\, an id-driven genius\, the original galactic slacker with his head in the stars. Part travelogue\, part memoir\, part history\, part biography\, and part meditation\, Driving Mr. Albert is one of the most unique road trips in modern literature. \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n

SUMMARY:VIRTUAL: The Life & Career Of Rob Reiner
DESCRIPTION:**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VIRTUAL PROGRAM THAT WILL TAKE PLACE VIA ZOOM. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.** \nRob Reiner was an award winning American filmmaker\, actor\, director and writer. Some of us think of Archie Bunker & how Archie called his character “Meathead.” But most of us think of his movies. This is Spinal Tap\, The Princess Bride\, Stand By Me\, When Harry Met Sally\, A Few Good Men\, and Misery are just a few of the classic movies he directed. Enjoy a look at the life and career of this Academy Award-nominated director and Emmy Award-winning actor. Led by Frank Mandosa\, a film historian and Massachusetts high school Film and English teacher. He is the host of “Reels of Cinema” podcast and co-host of the “Movies Across The Pod” podcast. \nThis program is held in collaboration with the Tewksbury Public Library. \nRECORDING NOTE: This program will be recorded. All registrants will receive the recording via email within 48 hours of the program. \nPlease register directly via Zoom.
