DESCRIPTION:Virtual Program – REGISTER HERE \nFrom the Friends of Dorothy to Boston marriages\, LGBTQIA+ people have been living as their authentic queer selves in every era\, in every culture. \nGenderqueer inclusion consultant\, Ali Kane (she/they) will share queer stories from the 1600s to the 1960s. From these accounts\, you will gain a glimpse into queer lives throughout history\, as well as explore how these truths were uncovered and strategies for preserving queer history today. Through case studies\, you will learn how historians continue to grapple with validating these experiences within 21st Century understanding of identity\, gender\, and family. \nThis Pride Month event is sponsored by the Friends of the JHPL and presented in collaboration with the Charlton Public Library\, the Jacob Edwards Library in Southbridge\, and other Massachusetts libraries.
