He befriends a British beekeeper who maintains a touching custom of “telling the bees” important news of the day. And he crunches through a German forest to find the official mailman of the only tree in the world with its own address – to which countless people from across the world have written in hopes of finding love. These are just some of the last custodians preserving age-old rites on the brink of disappearance against all odds. Let Eliot Stein introduce you to all of them. \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - October 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n Submit \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ URL:https://baconfreelibrary.org/event/nfoct26/ LOCATION:Bacon Free Library\, 58 Eliot Street\, Natick\, MA\, 01760\, United States CATEGORIES:Adult Events,Featured GEO:42.285064;-71.346109 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Bacon Free Library 58 Eliot Street Natick MA 01760 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=58 Eliot Street:geo:-71.346109,42.285064 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20261105T130000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20261105T140000 DTSTAMP:20260928T164626Z CREATED:20260928T164626Z LAST-MODIFIED:20260928T164626Z UID:10004065-1793883600-1793887200@baconfreelibrary.org SUMMARY:Mystery Book Club DESCRIPTION:Join us for a virtual Zoom discussion of Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith.
