DESCRIPTION:“Alas\, my days of photographing the magnificent Great Blue Herons from the cockpit of my kayak floating on the lake have come to an end.” Posted by Babsje on December 20\, 2023\, shortly before her death in January. babsjeheron.wordpress.com. \nBabsje was a local photographer who focused her lens on the Great Blue Herons in and around Lake Cochituate and on the Charles\, including at the dam in South Natick. DESCRIPTION:For the month of June\, the BFL is honored to host a multisensory exhibit entitled Native American Reflections – We Are Still Here.  Come to the library to enjoy paintings\, poetry\, baskets\, and other works of art created by members of Natick Nipmuc Tribe\, Abenaki Nation\, Algonquin Nation\, Inuk Nation\, and Wampanoag Nation.  Printing services donated by ICL Imaging. \n \nSeveral of the artists are profiled here \nClick here to learn about the artists of the Natick Nipmuc \n  \n\n \nWhite Feather\nfeatured art work: Waterfalls and Tranquility\n  \n \nWhite Feather is a member of the Wampanoag Nation who lives on traditional Wampanoag homelands with his wife of nearly 50 years and two dogs near old growth pines and two beautiful ponds. Proud of his mixed heritage with Cape Verde\, he walks in a traditional way with the Pipe and Sweat Lodges and honors the Original Instructions to embrace all nations on the Medicine Wheel. Their creative practice is heavily informed by their lived experiences as a queer\, trans\, and mixed-race person. Family\, friends\, and the animal\, plant\, and rock beings are Nebi’s heart. Their heart is filled with gratitude and humility to be part of this amazing Painting Poetry Circle and to have this creative and powerful time\, Môwiwi/together. SUMMARY:Native American Reflections - We Are Still Here
DESCRIPTION:The Bacon Free Library is hosting an exhibit on Native American Art entitled Native American Reflections – We Are Still Here\, throughout the month of June. Artists include members of the Natick Nipmuc tribe\, Abenaki Nation\, Algonquin\, Inuk  and Wampanoag tribe. Paintings\, poetry\, baskets and other works of art will be on display throughout the month. \n  \nA community gathering where you can meet the artists and hear their stories will take place outside on the grounds of the library on Saturday\, June 8th from 11-12:30pm. The art will be on display from June 4 – June 26th. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Marie Picard Craig Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION: \nMarie Craig uses cyanotype photography to explore the overlap between concrete bodies\, or still moments\, and the life instilled in them. Her photographs capture places of formative choice\, incorporating both intention and chance.  \nCyanotype photographs (sometimes called sunprints) are made without a camera by placing objects on paper or fabric that is coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it in the sun and rinsing with water to produce deep blue images. Marie loves the beautiful blue color of the images\, which she sometimes embellishes with other bright colors or beads. \n  \n\n        \n            \n                                                \n\n                                        \n                        _2drFUgS6i8AqUhib7IoNv-XEBKgdU1khC3JdREYLmufmXsjx8_FM2CwYUVMoogP                    \n\n                                    \n            \n        \n        \n  \nMarie began her career as a medical photographer and illustrator after graduating from Clark University in Worcester with a master’s degree in biology. She later shifted her role to become a teacher\, curator\, photographer\, and gallerist\, all in the fine art community. Marie has shown her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the US and Australia. In 2011 she co-founded Fountain Street Gallery in Boston and serves as its director.
