SUMMARY:Cinéphile Mondays
DESCRIPTION:Cinephilia is an academic word literally meaning “love of cinema\,” but it also contains hints of nostalgia and passion for a film art that was undoubtedly the defining media experience of the twentieth century. \nAs such\, cinema has a variegated and fascinating history which extends well beyond the Hollywood we are all familiar with.  Meant as a tribute to the film art around the world\, from the days of silent cinema to the new waves and beyond\, our cinephile Mondays is a slow and tasteful appreciation of the First Century of Cinema.  The films will be selected on the basis of their relevance for the development of the film art.  On the last Monday of the month\, cinephiles of the world unite!  \nWatch a movie at home and then join Film history & Media studies Professor MV for a virtual discussion. \nFor Monday November 27 \nWe will be discussing: \nWhere Do We Go Now? … \nOriginal title: Et maintenant on va où? by Nadine Labaki\, Lebanon 2011 \nAvailable on DVD HERE \nIf you are interested in attending this Zoom discussion\, please contact Graziella at glesellier@minlib.net

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:**Please note that we are having a Nov/Dec meeting of the NF book club; in January we will return to our usual 4th Saturday of the month. \nThis month\, we will discuss Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. \nIn the 1920s\, after oil was discovered beneath their land\, members of the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma became the richest people per capita in the world. Then\, members of the Osage tribe began to die under mysterious circumstances. As the death toll climbed to more than 24\, the FBI took up the case. Director Hoover turned to a former Texas Ranger named Tom White to unravel the mystery. White’s undercover team\, including one of the only American Indian agents in the bureau\, worked with the Osage people to expose one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history. In Killers of the Flower Moon\, David Grann revisits this shocking series of murders and the intricacies of the investigation that followed.  (summary from DavidGrann.com) \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \nOur discussion will be held in a hybrid format.  The host will be in person at the BFL\, while some members will join over zoom.  You are welcome to join either way.  For zoom\, please register here to receive the meeting details: \n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - Nov/Dec 2025\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

\nFor Monday December 18 \nWe will be discussing:  \nBeau Travail by Claire Denis\, France 1999 \nDVD available in the Minuteman Network HERE and HERE \nIf you are interested in attending this Zoom discussion\, please contact Graziella at glesellier@minlib.net

SUMMARY:Mass Audubon's The Nature of Winter with Doug Lowry (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:The nature of Massachusetts is filled with seasonal mysteries waiting to be uncovered. Have you ever wondered which animal left tracks in the snow? What happens to pond animals under a layer of ice? Or what trees are lining the trails on your winter walks? This online program will introduce the seasonal dynamics of nature in winter\, and provide ideas and resources for observing\, appreciating\, and supporting wildlife near home this winter. \nDoug Lowry is the Senior Teacher/Naturalist for Mass Audubon’s South East Region\, Senior Field Instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School\, and a Master Educator for the Leave No Trace program. He has spent over 3\,000 days on wilderness expeditions and is a grateful student of life-long bird study. \n \nThis program will be held over Zoom. SUMMARY:Winter Sowing - In-person
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to grow seeds from winter sowing. Winter sowing is a\nprocess of using a milk jug\, filling it with soil and seeds\, and then\nsetting it outside in a sunny but protected area. In the class you will\nselect one seed packet for your winter sowing jug. All material will be\nprovided – jug\, seeds\, soil\, water\, tape\, and pen – so you will leave with\none completed winter sowing jug. Also everyone\nin class is invited back to the EcoNatick/Earth Day celebration on\n4/27/24 at BFL to take part in a seedling exchange. \nMonica Foley has been gardening since she was a little girl. She is\ninterested in native plants\, herbs\, flowers\, wildlife habitats\, floral\ndesigns and has been winter sowing for the past ten years. \n\n \n\n \n \n Winter Sowing - In-Person\n \n \n Name*Email*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

\nFor Monday February 26 \nWe will be discussing: Little Otik by Jan Švankmajer\, Czech Republic 2000 \nAvailable on DVD HERE \nIf you are interested in attending this Zoom discussion\, please contact Graziella at glesellier@minlib.net
