SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:**Please note: this month we are meeting on the 5th Saturday in order to avoid Memorial Day weekend** \n  \nThis month\, we will discuss Cabin: off the grid adventures with a clueless craftsman by Patrick Hutchison.  \nAccording to Macmillan Publishers: \nWit’s End isn’t just a state of mind. It’s the name of a gravel road\, the address of a run-down off-the-grid cabin\, 120 shabby square feet of fixer-upper Patrick Hutchison purchased on a whim in the mossy woods of the Cascade Mountains in Washington state. \nTo say Hutchison didn’t know what he was getting into is no more an exaggeration than to say he’s a man with nearly zero carpentry skills. Well\, used to be. You can learn a lot over six years of renovations. \nCABIN is the story of those renovations\, but it’s also a love story; of a place\, of possibilities\, and of the process of construction\, of seeing what could be instead of what is. It is a book for those who know what it’s like to bite off more than you can chew\, or who desperately wish to. \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - May 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis month\, we will discuss Grandma Gatewood’s Walk: the inspiring story of the woman who saved the Appalachian Trail by Ben Montgomery.  \nFrom the book flap:  \n \n  \nEmma Gatewood told her family she was going on a walk and left her small Ohio hometown with a change of clothes and less than $200. The next anybody heard from her\, this genteel\, farm-reared\, 67-year-old great-grandmother had walked 800 miles along the 2\,050-mile Appalachian Trail. And in September 1955\, having survived a rattlesnake strike\, two hurricanes\, and a run-in with gangsters from Harlem\, she stood atop Maine’s Mount Katahdin. There she sang the first verse of America\, the Beautiful and proclaimed: I said I’ll do it\, and I’ve done it.  \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - June 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

SUMMARY:Nonfiction Book Club
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis month\, we will discuss The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery.  \nFrom Simon & Schuster: \n \n  \nIn pursuit of the wild\, solitary\, predatory octopus\, popular naturalist Sy Montgomery has practiced true immersion journalism. From New England aquarium tanks to the reefs of French Polynesia and the Gulf of Mexico\, she has befriended octopuses with strikingly different personalities—gentle Athena\, assertive Octavia\, curious Kali\, and joyful Karma. Each creature shows her cleverness in myriad ways: escaping enclosures like an orangutan; jetting water to bounce balls; and endlessly tricking companions with multiple ‘sleights of hand’ to get food.  \n  \nCopies of this book are available at the library.  \n  \nOur discussion will be on Zoom.  Please register here to receive the meeting details: \n  \n\n \n \n Nonfiction Book Club Registration - July 2026\n \n \n your nameemail*\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ
