DESCRIPTION:Carlos Santiago’s still lifes walk a line between representational and abstract art\, with his primary source of inspiration being flowers and vases. In flowers\, he finds complicated patterns\, shapes\, and repetition; elements that show up in all of his paintings. \nPlease join us for a reception with Carlos on Tuesday\, December 17th.  You can also enjoy his paintings through January 22nd. \n  \n\n        \n            \n                                                \n\n                                        \n                        pinkanglespinkpurplemulticolor                    \n\n                                    \n            \n        \n        \n  \nCarlos has developed a signature technique that employs a sharp edge to create clean straight lines that extend the limits of his subjects\, adding drama and energy and a bold recognition to each painting. His use of shadow plays an important role in his work\, enhancing the contrast between the darkness and his vivid colors. \nCarlos doesn’t simply paint the still life subjects he sees\, but the dream-like gestures that he feels. Working with familiar compositions\, he hopes to create artwork that conveys not only the visual reality of his subjects\, but the vibrant extension of energy into their surroundings. \nCarlos Santiago is from Caguas\, Puerto Rico. He obtained his BFA in fine art from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah\, Georgia. He subsequently worked for ten years as a design professional in the fashion industry in New York City. Now\, Carlos lives and works in Boston\, Ma. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:We are looking forward to chatting with author and historical sleuth\, Philippa Langley\, about her book The Princes in the Tower: Solving History’s Greatest Cold Case and her discovery of the grave of King Richard III in 2012. She is co-author of the bestselling The Lost King with Michael Jones (first published as The King’s Grave\, John Murray 2013)\, and Finding Richard III\, the official account of her Looking For Richard Project. On the ten-year anniversary of discovering Richard III\, her extraordinary story was released as the internationally acclaimed major feature film\, The Lost King\, directed by Sir Stephen Frears and starring Sally Hawkins.  \nIn November 2023\, Philippa once again rewrote the history books in her new work The Princes in the Tower: Solving History’s Greatest Cold Case (The History Press\, UK; Pegasus\, USA). Based on her remarkable new research initiative\, The Missing Princes Project\, its now seven-year investigation revealed the Princes survived to challenge Henry VII\, the first Tudor monarch\, for the throne of England.
