Backyard Beekeeping 101
February 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Have you noticed those wooden hives neatly stacked in your neighbor’s backyard or at the community garden? Are there really tens of thousands of bees in there? And what exactly is going on in there?
A honeybee habitat is called an apiary and it is certainly a productive place. These amazing insects supply tasty and healthful honey as well as pollinate nearby vegetables, flowers, plants, and trees. If you’ve considered having your own apiary or you are just fascinated by the wonder of bees, join us for Backyard Beekeeping 101.
Tony Lulek of Little Beehive Farm will teach us about the benefits of beekeeping, how to get started with your own apiary, and what is involved in the day-to-day maintenance of a hive as well as the process of harvesting honey. He’ll also share his experience in the beekeeping community and the many products and services that flow from the hive.
This program will be held over Zoom. Please register here to receive the Zoom meeting details.
