A little about Alan Witschonke

Alan Witschonke has been a professional Illustrator for over 30 years. During that time, he has completed a broad range of assignments encompassing the Editorial, Book Publishing, Advertising, Corporate and Institutional fields. His clients include Atlantic Monthly, U.S. News & World Report, Rolling Stone, Scientific American, The Wall Street Journal, Yankee, National Geographic, Harvard University and the Boston Red Sox.

Mr. Witschonke has also won awards from Communication Arts magazine and the Society of Illustrators, as well as recognition from American Illustration. He is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and resides in Natick, Massachusetts.

Starting in 1996, Mr. Witschonke illustrated the first of seven non-fiction children’s books for Charlesbridge Publishing and Mikaya Press, Inc. in New York City. These books have won numerous awards, including: New York magazine’s Best Children’s Book List, Scientific American’s Young Readers Book Award, New York Public Library’s 100 Books to Read and Share list and the Child Study Children’s Book Committee’s Best Books of the Year List.

In addition to his illustration work, Mr. Witschonke works as a portrait painter. He is currently working on a commission for the Boston Medical Library at Harvard Medical School. (Bio from Alan Witschonke)
